Burmese Bowl

Burmese Bowl

6,450.00

A beautifully decorated bowl, made in what was Lower Burma, featuring scenes from the Jataka. The detail in the decoration is incredible, from the skin on the elephant to the faces on the figures. The bowl was probably made to be a table centrepiece but is based on a traditional rice bowl shape.

Unusually for Burmese bowls, this one is on four feet, giving it more height but also a lightness on the table even though it is a massive 2 kg. of the high standard fine silver that has the ductility required to produce this type of high relief decoration..
