The person depicted on this spoon is Moses. Now you may be wondering, if Moses was not one of the apostles, why is there an Apostle spoon of him? While a true “Apostle spoon of Moses” does not exist in standard antique silver classifications, silver collectors occasionally encounter non-Apostle “Biblical” or “Prophet” spoons. During the 19th-century Victorian revival era, silversmiths began producing decorative novelty spoons topped with Old Testament figures like Moses (usually depicted holding the Tablets of the Law). They are sometimes loosely marketed under the umbrella term “Apostle spoons” due to their identical style, but technically they are figural silver spoons.
