Exceptional 19th Century Anglo-Indian Bone Inlay Wall Mirror circa 1890. This striking antique mirror showcases magnificent artistry, featuring a dense, meticulously hand-cut bone inlay pattern against a rich hardwood frame. The central decorative band displays an elegant, fluid trailing floral vine motif, a hallmark of premium colonial craftsmanship. This is beautifully framed by an outer and inner border of geometric micro-mosaic bone and ebonised wood stringing, giving the piece a sharp architectural definition.
The mirror retains an authentic, beautifully aged glass plate with a soft, misty foxing that beautifully tells the story of its long history. Anglo-Indian (likely originating from regions renowned for specialized inlay work, such as Hoshiarpur or Vizagapatam), crafted during the height of the British Colonial trade market where European forms beautifully fused with local exotic carving traditions. Features charming historic foxing and distressing to the silvered mirror plating, highly sought-after by interior designers for its authentic period character.
