Rare marked Gillows of Lancaster kidney desk circa 1880

Rare marked Gillows of Lancaster Napoleon III-style ebonised kidney desk circa 1880, retaining its original gilt-tooled leather writing surface, richly figured burr walnut veneers, gilt detailing and brass castors. Raised on elegant turned legs with a shaped stretcher, this is a fine example from one of England’s most celebrated cabinetmakers.
