Regency Mahogany Work Table circa 1820
Regency Mahogany Pedestal Work Table circa 1820–1830. A handsome Regency mahogany pedestal work or occasional table, dating to the early 19th century. The rectangular moulded top sits above a single frieze drawer fitted with a turned wooden knob, flanked by distinctive shaped scroll brackets. The table is raised on a tapering faceted pedestal, terminating in a quadriform base of four sweeping sabre legs. The restrained decoration, compact proportions and elegant pedestal construction are all typical of Regency occasional furniture, while the rich dark timber has developed a particularly attractive mellow surface and patina.
