Victorian Silver-Mounted Walking Cane

Victorian Sterling Silver-Mounted Walking Cane, Birmingham, c.1889–1890. An elegant late Victorian walking cane with a slender polished reddish-brown hardwood shaft, possibly rosewood, surmounted by a beautifully worked sterling silver cap. The silver terminal is finely engraved with scrolling foliate decoration in the typical late-19th-century taste, giving an otherwise restrained cane a particularly decorative finish.
