Chinese Trumpet Vase circa 1880

Large Chinese Export Blue & White Prunus Trumpet Vase circa 1880–1900. A striking late Qing dynasty Chinese porcelain vase of tall cylindrical trumpet form. The body is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with scattered white prunus blossom against a richly worked blue ground, while the interior of the rim is painted with loose bamboo sprays. The decoration is characteristic of the 17th century Kangxi Revival taste popular in the later 19th century, when earlier blue-and-white porcelain designs were widely reinterpreted for the export market and made without marks.
