The Sopwith Triplane entered service in early 1917 and was operated exclusively by the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS).

Its most famous deployment was with No. 10 Naval Squadron’s “B” Flight, widely known as the “Black Flight.” Led by the legendary Canadian ace Raymond Collishaw, the flight painted their aircraft cowlings and panels pitch black and named their individual planes names like Black Prince, Black Death, and Black Roger. In a span of just three months in mid-1917, the Black Flight claimed 87 German aircraft destroyed while losing only one of their own Triplanes.

This is a vintage hand-crafted model of the plane made out of matchsticks.
