Victorian Darker Burr Walnut Occasional Table circa 1870
A handsome mid-Victorian burr walnut occasional or centre table, dating to around 1870. The octagonal top is veneered in richly figured burr walnut, framed by fine linear stringing and a contrasting ebonised moulded edge. The table is raised on four elegant turned and fluted walnut supports, with carved and turned collars, united by a decorative X-form stretcher. The legs terminate in shaped downswept feet fitted with castors, giving the piece the refined architectural quality typical of better Victorian cabinet furniture.
